So, now you are in Finland!

People come here for many different reasons: love, work, family ties, schooling, a chance for new opportunities or just looking for adventure. Some people have to come here, for others it’s more of a choice. And now it is a constant daily process to integrate into new society. New language, new customs, new ways to interact with others - the list of “newness“ is potentially endless.

Though exciting, at times this process can lead to stress in one’s life. We hope this site will help to alleviate some of these adjustment stresses, help you feel more connected with your new community and if you need help, able to connect with available services.

The intention of this site is to reach out and try to lessen stresses that can exist in navigating the various systems here in Finland, with special attention to alcohol and drug related concerns. The site is intended for those who have yet to master Finnish since one’s language capabilities should not be a hindrance to accessing services here. Information is here for you as a user, a concerned friend, a worried parent or just a new resident to Finland.

The information on these pages is also intended for those working with non-Finnish speaking clients who need support and more language appropriate information. Currently the site holds information in English, Russian, Swedish and sign language. Feel free to ask questions, identify your needs in the field and provide feedback about the site’s content.

Information about the host of this site, A-Clinic Foundation, its services and possible treatment options here in Finland can be found in English on the Foundation’s main site.
