About AddictionLink
Since its establishment in 1996, AddictionLink has been Finland’s most popular drug and addiction online service. Intended for substance users, their relatives and all those interested in abuse-related issues, the site provides useful information for healthcare professionals and students alike.
Each month, AddictionLink reaches around 80,000 visitors to the site. A number of services are also available in Swedish, English, Russian and sign language. The service is provided by the A-Clinic Foundation.
The editor-in-chief of AddictionLink, Ms Pirkko Hakkarainen, is assisted by a production team made up of a number of experts. AddictionLink is sponsored by Finland's Slot Machine Association RAY. Previously, the service also received funding from the EU, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, and the Finnish Centre for Health Promotion.
The site is maintained by A-Clinic Foundation’s communications team, while responsibility for technical implementation rests with the team’s web designer. Please address any comments and inquiries to: paihdelinkki@a-klinikka.fi.

Contents of AddictionLink
The font size can be changed using the font size controls at top of the page. Underneath the font size controls there is a search box for looking up information in AddictionLink.
The shortcuts at the top of the site always display a link to the home page, a site map, information about the site as well as contact details including links to the various language versions.
To go from one section to another, use the navigation bar at the top of the page. Underneath the navigation bar there is a breadcrumb trail showing your location. The contents of each section are displayed to the left on the section home page. To view the contents, click the heading.
Info bank
The Info bank contains short articles providing expert information on alcohol, drugs, addictions and their treatment. The articles have been divided into six groups:

- 200-line, Information on alcohol
- 300-line, Information on drugs and medicinal substances
- 400-line, Information on behavioural addictions
- 500-line, Information on nicotine
- 600-line, Information on drug treatment and related training
The FAQ section contains frequently asked questions about substance use.
The ‘Drugs and the Brain’ animation illustrates how various substances affect the brain.

Self-assessment tests regarding substance use.
Self-help
This section includes counters, tools and applications that help you cut down on drinking.
Foreigner info
Useful information concerning social and healthcare services related to substance use available in Finland.
